There are a lot of various lessons about drawing roses, but we tried to make the best instruction, with the help of which even the most novice artist will be able to depict a very natural rose. Let’s take the final touches and add some shadows to make it even more voluminous and realistic. Using standard hatching, add shadows in the least lit areas. The drawing of our beautiful rose is almost complete and looks quite realistic. As well, we need to add the veins on the leaves. To make them look like real ones, make the edges zigzag and slightly uneven. Not only the bud and stem of this wonderful flower, but also its petals should look natural. That the stalk should not be as even as a cocktail tube. A slight unevenness should give your rose natural look. Draw out the lines, making them dark and clear, as in the example under this text. Make the lower edge of the bud rounded and smooth, creating outlines similar to a vase or a woman’s waist. They should also become dark and clear, and their outlines also uneven and very smooth. To make them really natural and realistic, let’s make their edges uneven but very smooth.ĭo the same with the outer petals. Let’s start with the inner petals, making them very dark and crisp. To make our sketch beautiful and realistic, we will gently circle the rose petals. Try not to make them too even and the same, because we are depicting a real rose, not an artificial one. The basic contours of the rose are ready, and from the step number seven we will deal with the final detailing of the rose. With the help of a few simple lines, we sketch the leaves of a rose. Let’s now draw sepals, that is, the details of the rose that are directly under the bud. Now we make the stem of the rose thicker by adding another line repeating the auxiliary guiding line of the stem from the first step. These are the largest and widest petals that extend beyond the outlines of the oval from the first step. They should literally surround all other petals. In the fourth step, we will sketch out the outermost flower petals. Each next line should be larger than the previous one, and as mentioned earlier, should embrace the previous petal. Do not forget that you need to use very light, almost transparent lines. The petals of our rose are sketched in such a way that each next line of the petal should surround the previous line.Ĭontinue to create new petals. Closer to the top of the oval (or egg) from the first step, depict a short curved line. Be sure to start drawing in the center of your paper, because you will be working outwards.Let’s start sketching the petals from its very core. Find the innermost petal, and start your drawing there. I find that it's easiest the way to get started with a rose drawing is to identify the center of the rose. If perchance you do want to get the drawing absolutely perfect, you can use image transfer techniques such as transfer paper, the grid method, or use an art projector if you want to make a really big drawing. Just relax and enjoy the drawing process! If you draw a petal too large or too small, who's gonna know? So don't worry about drawing everything to perfectly match the photo. One of the best things about learning how to draw a rose is that you don't need to worry about getting everything in exact proportion. This lovely rose photo was taken by Tambako and is used here with his permission for teaching you how to draw a rose! Here is the beautiful rose photo that I used as a reference for this drawing.
